I began studying guitar at the age of 13 and quickly realized I had found my passion

I went on to receive my Bachelor of Music in Guitar Performance at the Peabody Conservatory of Music (part of Johns Hopkins University) in Baltimore, Maryland, where my main teachers were Ray Chester and Aaron Shearer.

I received my Masters of Music in Guitar Performance from the University of Idaho and then went on to serve as  Professor of Guitar at Syracuse University.

Since then I have taught and performed throughout the United States.

Over the past decade I have taken up the viola and have greatly enjoyed learning a new instrument. I enjoy playing chamber music with other string players, including my wife, also a professional musician.

My other interests include fishing, hiking, and surfing.
